FaqsFrequently Asked Questions About Waxing & Sugaring
1It is my firsts time! What should I expect during a wax/sugaring?
Welcome! You can walk-in or schedule an appointment. You will be greeted by our front desk and fill out our check in questionnaire, then your esthetician will come get you from the waiting area and you will be taken to our treatment room. She will leave while you remove your bottom layer of clothing and return when you are ready. The Brazilians take from 15 to 30 minutes.
2Does it hurt?
You’re pulling the hair out of its follicle so, yes, it will be a little uncomfortable but it depends on your pain tolerance. We recommend exfoliating the area in the shower the day before your treatment. If it’s your first time and you find it to be painful, no worries, come back next time and you will see it get easier every time.
3What’s the difference between wax and sugaring?
Waxing is a hair removal technique using hard wax or soft wax, depends on the area to be done. The hard wax is applied with wooden sticks while we use cloth for soft wax. Removes the hair follicle from the root against it growth. Sugaring is a hair removal technique using a sugar pasta. It is applied with the esthetician’s hand (wearing gloves) and pulls in the direction of the hair growth. It being made out of a natural paste (only including sugar, lemon and water).
4How long will I be fuzz-free?
Everybody is different, depends of your hair length but most clients who get regularly, come every 3 to 4 weeks. You will experience less pain upon removal, less hair grows back, thinner, softer and slower hair growth over time. Sugaring keeps the hair away a little longer than wax.
Waxing & Sugaring Tips
If you shave, stop and let your hair grow for at least three weeks before your appointment. Your hair should be at least ¼ inch long (about the size of a grain of rice). Please, don’t try to cut your hair if you are hairy, we will take care of everything for you!
Be calm, anxiety and tension can cause you to have a negative first experience. Don’t think about the quick pain, the more relaxed you are, the less pain you will experience. It’s important to let us know if you have ever had allergies waxing or if you are taking any medications such as antibiotics, Accutane or Retin-A.
DO: Start to exfoliate the skin areas waxed 48 hours after the treatment, do that two times a week at bath time until your next appointment. It is good to use an ingrown hair serum on the waxed area, if you don’t have one, ask your esthetician about our products on the front desk. DON’T: Never use gel, oil, moisturizing creams, deodorant (spray or roll-on) or makeup on the skin area after waxing and don’t expose newly waxed areas to the sun, hot tubes, sauna, suntan booths, extreme heat or do exercise, wait 24 hours to do all that. Enjoy your smooth and hair free skin and schedule your next appointment in 3 to 4 weeks! See you soon!
